Continente shops in the Azores raise over 23,000 euros for 11 local institutions

The Continente shops in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the brand represented by INSCO in this archipelago, raised a total of 23,013 euros for Missão Continente's 2023 Christmas solidarity campaign to support local institutions. Continente Modelo Ponta Delgada was the shop selected for the symbolic handover of the donation in the Azores, attended by local organisations. This shop raised a total of 7,649 euros for the Mãe de Deus Association, the Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome - São Miguel and the Associação Seniores de São Miguel.

The donations were handed over to the institutions selected by customers on 25 January, at 4.30pm, in a ceremony attended by the representative of the São José Parish Council, Sara Rocha; the Store Director and the respective representatives of the institutions.

On a national level, Continente selected one shop per district to deliver the donations, in order to symbolically thank all the customers who contributed to raising more than 1,270,000 euros (1,274,381 euros) to support around 1,000 institutions nationwide, three local institutions for each of the more than 360 shops.

The campaign "A ajuda mora ao lado" (Help lives next door), which ran from 1 November 2023 to 7 January 2024 in all Continente shops, created the largest community support movement in Portugal and gave customers the opportunity to choose which institution (related to the shop) they wanted to contribute to, directly impacting their community. In 2023, and also for the first time, support could also be made via the Continente card app, where customers could choose which of the approximately 1,000 national institutions they wanted to support (regardless of where they live).

Missão Continente represents all of Continente's social responsibility initiatives, which for 20 years have been focussed on food, people and the planet, with the aim of contributing to a more sustainable future. In the logic of proximity and direct intervention in each community, Missão Continente believes that this fundraising model is the most appropriate, as it allows customers to contribute to institutions that are close to them and whose work they know and value.
