Due to the collaboration involving the Group of Friends of Paediatrics (GAP) and several entities from the regional business world, from which the Bensaude Group is part, a non-invasive neonatal ventilator was donated yesterday to the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital (HDES).
This ventilator is intended for the treatment of respiratory problems in children since premature birth, allowing the reduction of perinatal, neonatal and infant mortality.

João Pedro Cardoso, Clinical Director of the HDES, said that "it is one of our objectives as a Board of Directors to stimulate this interaction with the civil society and promote this support, which is often fundamental". Lucinda Mendonça, responsible for the Neonatology Unit of the Paediatrics Service of HDES, highlighted the importance of the equipment, stating that the unit "provides care to the population of São Miguel and Santa Maria and all other premature babies under 32 weeks for the entire archipelago, so it is a unit with a high occupancy rate and we need this equipment."
The Bensaude Group is proud to be part of this action, narrowing and reinforcing the umbilical connection it has with the Azores and the Azoreans.
