São Miguel Island was the chosen location for ASAREX 2018, which took place from September 17th to 21st.
Organized by the Portuguese Navy and the Portuguese Air Force and conducted by the Lajes Search and Rescue Coordination Center and the Ponta Delgada Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, "this exercise has as its main objective the joint training and the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the participants, seeking to promote and maximize proficiency, cooperation and interoperability," according to one of the event organizers, the Portuguese Air Force.
As a longtime partner of the Portuguese Navy, the Bensaude Group participated in the day of the conferences, September 18th, with the presence of Américo Nunes, Manager of Bensaude Agentes de Navegação, taking part with the theme "Role of shipping agencies in medium scale search and rescue operations at SRR Santa Maria.
The event ended on September 20th with a simulation of a fire situation aboard an Atlântico Line vessel.
