Preserving an ecosystem: The birds of Cabo da Praia

This project is a perfect example of collaboration between Bensaude Group and the scientific community, in order to preserve the natural conditions of the Azorean ecosystem.
To study the possible impact in the wild bird population caused by the construction of Terparque’s new fuel terminal, Bensaude Group joined forces with a team of experienced ornithologists.

The study proved that our activity didn’t affect the migratory routes of these birds and, more importantly, it created a research work that caught the attention of the population and public entities, raising awareness to the environmental specificity of that area.

The joint effort resulted in a scientific report about "The birds of Cabo da Praia” and in a set of measures that led to the cleaning of this otherwise forgotten area.

A case of success that provoked reactions from the academic world and the media.
